Thank you all. Well, I would like this machine to be as silent as possible. I was planning to mount the PSU upwards to exhaust air from inside the case and that would be the only fan generating some noise. I would definitely buy the T model for this build, however it seems to not be easily...

It would be used on a machine as a router/firewall/fileserver on home network, I doubt it would be stressed over 10% for any sustained period of time (maybe only when booting the system, which is under a minute). Anyone has experience with this?

Increasing Memory to 8gb

4gb is plenty, way more than you need for browsing the web. Chances are you probably have a lot of crapware/malware slowing your pc down if there is any performance problems for just browsing the web. I would recommend a clean reinstall of Windows before buying any more RAM.

I wonder why no 95w sku with edram? Maybe because they expect consumers who buy top end won't use it at all?

Intel's [lousy] cooler cannot cool i3 100% load for even 30 seconds

I just ran OCCT on my i3-4330 and the abysmal intel cooler wasn't even capable of keeping the temps below 85ºC for even a single minute. My case has good air flow, in fact I had removed the side panel as I was doing some cable rearrangement prior to testing. Room temp ~26ºC. Intel should be...

Ssd samsung 840 evo or intel 530

Definitely avoid Samsung 840 (Evo) until there is a fix for the issue mentioned above. The Intel SSD is probably fine.

Damn, these are really old. I wasn't even born at the time. But I'm talking about 3.5-inch form factor HDD's manufactured in the last 10 years or so :biggrin: Maybe Seagate is using this tech sooner than expected?

TSX borked in Haswell and Broadwell

I have seen some slides that claim that. However, I'm skeptical to say the least. Indeed it would be great if it was true, but I'm not so sure that I could go to a retailer and buy SKL-S at any point in 2015. It is much more likely we are getting Broadwell refresh after Q3-2015 than Skylake...
