OK I'll take a look at that then.
But does anybody know how to install cygwin? I just can't seem to figure it out - it would seem easy - but it isn't. It's some wierd option, I just don't remember where that option is.
Is that what is needed? I'd like to be able to do two things:
A. compile really basic programs that run under dos
and
B. compile programs that come complete with header files and all that stuff
Hi - I battled with this a year ago and somebody finally showed me how - and now my cygwin install is both out of date and is crashing occasionally, so it's time for a reinstall. Can somebody remind me how to do a *full* cygwin install? I get to the screen where you're supposed to choose...
Is that somehow different from using ipod updater to restore it?
I have tried restarting it many times - and it hasn't helped. Haven't tried the ipodlounge forums. (I didn't know about them)
I don't particuarly like Itunes - hell I still use Winamp alot instead of it - the only reason I have it installed is for my Ipod. Anyways - I tried Ephpod - and it locked up after about 2000 songs.

I'm trying to choose a distro of linux for my laptop. I've heard Ubuntu is very good for laptops? What do yall think? Any others I should look at? Thanks!
Will try to answer all questions:
ports on laptop are usb 2.0. Power cycling means to turn off then turn on. Operating system is on internal hard drive. I doubt the hub is underpowered - as the only device I have connected to it that doesn't have an external power supply is the mouse - both...
yes
Also forgot to mention I'm running Windows XP SP2. I've been using all of these usb devices (besides the hub) for at least 3 months with no problems whatsoever.
