TwiceOver's perpetual used SUV buying thread. Purchasing a Saturn Vue

Im surprised there's no mention of the 4Runner or Pathfinder. Both excellent SUVs and very reliable. I've got a Pathfinder and love this thing.

Vibration resistant HDD that isn't a SSD?

Look into automotive grade drives. I use the Seagate EE25 in my CarPC. It's an extremely tough drive that is designed for high vibration, extreme temperatures, and extreme altitudes. I believe in their product page they show the applications of this drive...one of them being used as a video...

Im sure alot of people will comment saying that they've used X brand of consumer drive operating 24/7 and it's lasted Y years so there must not be any difference. Would be interested in hearing some definitive facts or statistics that show enterprise or DVR grade drives are physically more...

Need to vent against Sony

That's ridiculous, why would the battery and charger not covered under warranty? I can understand that the battery is usually only covered for a year but the adapter is part of the notebook. I would say to try to contact Sony customer support directly, or go back to the store and talk to...

Yup and I think the government here has a program where they give you $150 to retire an old ride. I just dont want to risk the truck breaking down in the middle of the street and having to foot a tow bill.

Server Drive - Green, Blue, or Black?

The WD Greens have an advantage over the Black and Blue for the OP's purposes. If you look at the spec sheet, the Green has a lower error rate (1 in 10^15 vs 1 in 10^14). Also, I think the WD Green has the edge over Seagate's LP series since for roughly the same price, they consume less power...

Is this a good time to buy BP stock?

The real question is, how long is it going to take BP stock to fully recover? I am still undecided on BP...perhaps waiting for it to hit 35 or 30 before I commit. Another stock I've been watching is Transocean. Their stock has taken a big hit similar to BP, but they may potentially recover...

Quiet 1TB HDDs: My experience.

The WD Green is quiet when spinning, but it parks its heads ALOT which makes a loud tick each time.

drobo alternative

The Acer might seem overpriced initially since you can build a better performing machine for the same price, but keep in mind that over the long term, its lower power consumption will pay itself off.

I have a brand new WD Green 1.5TB, been running only 4 hours and

There's also alot of speculation that current high density drives are less reliable nowadays. Id also be interested in this.
