i've done a lot of research in the last days and i cant find any apps that would do exactly what i need. i think i'm gonna have to bite the bullet and use a media center application to pause/record and VLC just to watch. the problem with boxee and the others is that they would force me into...

ME TV looked right! but it turns out it doesnt support NTSC. Kaffeine doesnt seem to support NTSC either. still trying. TVTime supports NTSC, but it doesnt record or pause... anymore suggestions?

CPU Benchmark websites

i know AnandTech and Tom's Hardware have lots of CPUs listed. are there any other sites you guys use as reference? i recently discovered www.cpubenchmark.net which is very convenient. any other sites like it? btw, any benchmark would be good enough, even wPrime.

Outputing Non-Native resolution to HDTV

is it ok to output a 800p signal from a computer (a netbook, for instance) to a 1080p TV set (LCD or Plasma)? would that damage the TV or shorten its lifespan? i know it would result in blurry picture, but i dont mind that.

When i scan, should it be in regular or safe mode?

i read at Malwarebytes' forum that, because of the particular way its scan works, you should run it in Regular Mode. for any other malware apps you have, scan in Safe Mode.

HP DV7 very choppy on Hulu full screen via HDMI

Battery depletes after 2hrs....No matter what.

i'm sure it has already reached its "2-thirds life". :) the point of my post was to try to understand how a seemingly simple task (a slideshow with 30sec-wait between pics) can put the same toll on the battery as the playback of a video....

Latest Avast 5 Beta 2 (5.0.221 Updated)

i have tried both Avast and AVG. i would recommend either over any paid antivirus solution. AVG, unfortunately, got a case of the "bloats" last year. still good, though. i have been using AntiVir for over a year and i recommend it to everyone. IMHO, the best of the 3 free AVs out there...
