Update:
Problem solved. There was a nice PSU with 4 up to date PCIe connectors on sale this week at my favourite parts shop.

Hey all, haven't been around in a while. I'm currently in the process of re-invigorating my beast, but I'm a bit out of the loop on some points of hardware.
I...
I don't know exactly how Steam compares on OSX v. Win. My macbook pro has a GF9400M and my Windows desktop box has a Radeon 4870, thus I have little to no interest in running games on the mbp.
There is a pretty significant performance hit to running 3D games under Parallels v. Bootcamp on...
Oh yeah, one other thing, the Envy likes the 16:9 screens not the 16:10, so you get 1920x1080 not x1200, but you can get 1920x1080 on the 15.6" envy as well. I think it weighs in around 5.5 pounds. Also you might get into that for closer to $1500 depending on options.
I had a somewhat similar thread over here: http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2077867
The conclusion seems to be that if you want a good machine, you're going to pay for it. But there are some non-mac options worth looking at. Specifically people seem to like the HP Envy, and it's...
sounds like you're doing releases often enough that you might not have a full formal acceptance test process, I still suggest having specific branches to release from and don't release directly from trunk.
I have never actually used VSS, so I don't know how well branching and merging works in...
usually we try to keep trunk/master in a state that's "mostly functional" as in ready to hit an acceptance test and then have release branches/tags.
Once trunk/master passes an acceptance test, you merge to your release branch.
So, short answer: both
Right, I see what you mean now. You're just changing the background image. Sorry, I was confused. I was thinking you were creating a new div with the new background image in an ajax response and then adding it to the dom.
I'm not sure I can help you here, sorry.
In any reasonably modern browser, you can put a load event on any element, and it fires when that element finished loading.
You could just say <div onload=" function(); "> or if you want to add events from javascript something like http://snipplr.com/view/3116/cross-browser-add-event-listener/
I'm not exactly clear on what you are trying to do, but is there some reason the general domelement load event won't work for whatever it is?
If you really want to do it as a check, you could just set a variable in the load event and then check that variable.
I wouldn't bother, but then I don't even run AV software on my windows box. However, if you want AV software that's relatively unobtrustive try http://www.clamxav.com/
I see you said it was working fine, and that's not surprising, but it still might be worth doing an Archive & Reinstall at some point. It'll keep your home dir and settings intact but do a clean install of the OS files. Clear out duplicate driver sets and whatnot. Probably not necessary, but...
Porn websites still work in Mobile Safari right?
I mean, I have an Android phone, so obviously I'm basically rolling in porn every time I turn it on. But I'm pretty confident an iPhone can still browse to many porn sites with the aid of Safari.
Be careful with BSD on something like that, BSD's ports package management typically builds everything from source. As I sit here waiting for something to build on my 2.53 Ghz Core 2 Duo I can attest this can take a damn long time some days.
Debian dpkg pacakges are usually installed from...
5-6h should be alright. I don't get the 9h Apple claims anyhow.
I should check out the 14" when it hits. Probably is what I'm looking for.
Thanks for all the replies guys.
Nah, the Z's not really what I'm looking for. I'm looking for something more like a 15" MBP. But I was just thinking that it's interesting enough that some of the rest of the Vaio line might be worth a look.
