6800 Bench/Poor Performance in HL2?

What are your video settings? I have nearly the same setup (I unlocked the pipes and shaders on my 6800, and have a 20% OC) and I get BETTER FPS with AA/AF cranked. I'm talking ~100 FPS at 1600x1200 vs 40-45 FPS with 4x/8x AA/AF. I think you will be pleasantly surprised.

How Do You Unlock Pipelines?

I just got my second BFG 6800 today and it unlocked like a champ! The other one's going back to Best Buy tomorrow. No artifacts and about 400 more 3dMarks! I haven't tried to OC it more, but there's always hope! Good luck, and let us know how it turns out.

How Do You Unlock Pipelines?

Yes, it does void your warranty (by running it out of spec.) and with the LE I think the best you can hope for is 12 pipes. If it's a Giga-byte brand, you can update the bios from their website to get the 12 for free. From there there's always a shot of getting 16.

How Do You Unlock Pipelines?

I'm a little worried about heat too, so I spent a couple extra bucks and bought the BFG 6800 OC. It comes factory OCd, but also has a gnarly nickel-plated, heat-piped, LED-ed, heatsink sitting on top. It's the same HSF used on their 6800 GT that runs at 370/1000(!!!!), so I'm not too worried...

A8V Deluxe / ATI 9800 Pro-XT / HL2 AGP issues

After wrestling with my A8V and K8N Neo2 I finally got the ASUS board to work... kind of. The board is rock solid now after selling my GF 6800NU and throwing in a buddy's ATI card. The problem is, whenever I try to play HL2 or CS:Source, I get random lock ups and crashes. Has anyone else had...
