First time I booted newly built computer, monitor fries.

Sorry for the late reply, I was at work. I stopped at a local computer repair shop on my way home, they were able to sell me an old CRT monitor for $20 (trying to get rid of it :D ). The computer is fine. I guess a power surge killed the monitor. Envison's limited warranty does not cover...

First time I booted newly built computer, monitor fries.

Monitor is a 4 month old Envision H19W. Abit IP35 Pro EVGA e-geforce 8800 GT Intel e6750 gskill RAM and a 500w PSU that came with the case (Earthwatts 500w) Monitor only had a VGA port, Video card only had DVI ports, so I used a VGA to DVI adaptor (not ideal, I know) When I turned...

The old motherboard does not work, I could not do that. If I uninstall the old motherboard drivers, will XP still boot? In other words, do I uninstall drivers and restart, or install new drivers without restarting?

I am able to boot into Windows. What would happen if I just install the chipset drivers and not reinstall? Do I have to uninstall the old chipset drivers (how?)?

I cannot find my 98se CD. Loading the drivers for the PCI controller does not help. I have tried using the Windows XP CD and a cd with SP2 slipstreamed on it.

I need to repair install (new motherboard), and XP setup does not detect my windows partition. (I am using XP Upgrade, so I can not clean install) There are two things that might be causing this. 1 (I think this is the problem). I had ubuntu installed, and it had GNU Grub bootloader...

Scared to use Tuniq Tower 120 again...

In my defense, I did not install the CPU. MY buddy did that while I was lapping the HSF. How tight should I tighten the screws?

A week or so ago, I replaced the stock HSF for my E6400 with the Tuniq Tower 120. Worked fine for a day, the next day it didn't POST. local tech shop said the socket 775 pins were bent. I am not sure how that happened. I have a feeling it was because of the tuniq tower 120. (either...

Motherboard pin bent, would new HSF cause that?

What about the HSF? Should I try using it again? It did run a lot quieter and cooler for the one day I had it working. I don't want to ruin another motherboard though.
