Question Unable to install Win updates

Sorry, should’ve added that one - tried it multiple times - first time it found an error and fixed it, but I still couldn’t install updates. Subsequent times running the troubleshooter doesn’t do / show anything.

Hey all, I've been able to install updates in the past, but they're now failing. I'm trying to install KB5001330 and keep getting error code 0x8007000d. I've tried: 1. Downloading the standalone installer - still fails 2. Resetting / restarting Win Update componets 3. Running DISM and SFC 4...

Thanks. I have something that can grip on the handle, though it was starting to strip some of the paint. Perhaps I can use a cloth in between the tool and the handle? This may be a silly question, but where can I get a plastic wedge? Would Home Depot have something?

Thoughts on Haswell upgrade?

All, thanks so much for all of the suggestions. I finally decided to upgrade the case to a Nanoxia Deep Silence 2 (thanks @Sleepingforest), leave the other components as is, and rebuild when I get the mobo fixed. In looking at spending $ for Haswell, it seemed, based on all of your suggestions...

Can't open case side panel

I just bought a new Nanoxia Deep Silence 2 case from MC, and I can't open the right side panel to access the back of the mobo tray (the left side was fine). It just seems to be really stuck, and I can't get enough force/leverage to pull it. I emailed their support, and they asked if I could...

Thoughts on Haswell upgrade?

I'm tempted by the mATX, but just in case I want to expand more in the future, I'd rather the room :) I'd have to go back and see what drives I have in there besides the Samsung, but I'm pretty sure it's an Intel 120GB SDD, 2 WD 2TB Black drives from 2 or 3 years ago, and maybe one WD 500GB Blue.

Thanks for the additional info. I think I'm going with the Nanoxia Deep Silence 2 - it's $79 at MC, along with the CM 212 EVO ($29 at MC). In terms of CPU/mobo bundles at MC, I can only do the i7-4770K or the i5-4670K as a bundle, and I can get (prices incl the CPU): 1. ASRock...

Ah, sorry, you're right - it's $250 - still not bad though. I figured the CPU improvement won't be much. It's more that: 1. I have an eATX mobo and full tower case, and I'd like to slim things down at least a little bit 2. The mobo died, and it's going to be 3 weeks to get a new one, because...

Thoughts on Haswell upgrade?

I'm upgrading an older system, and I have a few options. For the most part, I do general computing, so I don't need much. On the other hand, every once and a while I'll do photo/video editing (Photoshop, Premier), and gaming with FSX. OC'ing capability isn't as important as quality, stability...

WiFi for 2200 sq. ft. loft?

To 2600K or not to 2600K : That is the question

Well, I decided to take the plunge, and got a 2600K, Asus P8P67 Deluxe mobo, and 8GB of G.Skill Ram. It's probably not an enormous leap, but I'm loving it. Seems like it's using less power, which means less heat, and is maybe more stable. But this is all subjective.

Yeah, I've gotten it to 3.8 no prob...though the vreg does get a bit hot.
