Sold. Read the last review over at phoronix and will be retiring my old P4 for a Kaveri on my Slackware machine. Motherboard, processor and ram are all on the way.
I haven't had any issues/degradation so far with CLU - it's been a little over a year, and I haven't touched it. Currently residing between a lapped Noctua nh-d14 and lapped 2500K.
Pretty tame.
Smaller lithography is yielding diminishing results for the power system builder. Seems Intel is still suffering from leaky 3D finfets and the maturation of the 22nm process is a stubborn beast.
Hope they have better success when Has-E rolls around.
Sage advise... currently I'm draining every last iota of life from this P4 socket 478 AGP system before upgrading. I use it daily, and unfortunately, it just won't DIE! D:
They're simply moving the bulk of the ever declining enthusiast crowd over to their premium $$$ lineup with this strategy crippling mainstream K SKUs.
They're herding cattle
I think this release made the decision for my upgrade path easy. The desktop version of Haswell has been somewhat disappointing with it's poor thermals, diminishing OC headroom and missing extensions.
Haswell-E or bust.
Have any reasonably accurate statistics on OC yields been done yet? Seems like early adopters have been taking it on the chin... or at least that's how it seems, anyway.
