What about using Nvidia's onboard graphics (agp bus, right?), and then putting a dual head nvidia pci card in a pci slot. (I found a dual head Jaton MX440 card on newegg.) With nview... anybody think that would work? Better yet, anybodo tried it?
(This client definately doesn't want to spend...
I'm building an Athlon XP system for a business and they need 3 monitors running on it. They want 3 seperate things up at once, not a span. Like Word on one monitor, Excel on another, and Internet on the third.
Would it be best to get an nforce2 chipset with integrated video and then add an...

Perhaps it's different in Australia, but here in the U.S. Intel is very overpriced compared to AMD. It is also pretty well known that AMD is not "budget" quality in the mid-90's sense (or the VIA CPU-sense) at all. These are now very high quality parts, extremely reliable and fast.
Again...
Both boards are listed on Newegg, with the "C" being significantly cheaper. In the pictures the "C" only has passive cooling on the northbridge whereas the "E" has a fan. Other than that, the specs in the listings look identical. Same onboard sound, no raid on either board, no difference in hard...
Hi,
I've got a VIA 266A chipset w/VIA southbridge. My board went bad so I'm replacing, but thinking about another brand for quality purposes. I can get a good deal on a 333 chipset with the VIA "a" southbridge (with ATA133). Don't want to wipe drive. I can get the exact same brand as I have...
<<I wonder if Anandtech reveiws the Soltek? It doesn't reveiw the Shuttle AK31 >>
Anandtech reviewed the Shuttle AK31 way back in October. Here's an excerpt that might be especially helpful in you situation:
The board uses the same Award BIOS setup as the...
Thanks everyone. If I do try it I'll be sure to let you all know how it comes out. And no one is responsible for any loss of money but me. (Since it's just 17 bucks a stick it's probably worth the risk! - I only buy a second stick if the first one works flawlessly:) I figure if I give it a try...
I just noticed on Crucial's site that their PC1600 is going for under $17 per 128MB stick. They don't offer more, but two of those would be the same price as PC2100 256MB was just a little while ago. They are also rated at CAS2 instead of 2.5, which leads me to believe that they may be very...
You self-styled "old-timers" don't seem to get it. I can remember when 8MB of ram in your system was considered overkill too. The fact that you payed out the wazoo for tiny amounts of ram back then is the point of the observation. The current price of ram is not the point either, it's the...
Looks pretty cool, but new enough that there aren't any reviews there. The PS says "P4/AMD Recommended" sticker on it, but something about that name (Maxtop and Q-top) that seems a little shaky. For me it's hard to tell sometimes the difference between good marketing for a quality product and...
I know the pendulum had to swing back sometime, but I can't help wondering at what point it becomes so ridiculous that the market comes to it's senses and stabalizes.
And by the way, how much of a joke is it for websites to run banners (like the one here) claiming "Hot Deals at Crucial"? Seems...
