I have built a very stable overclocked system around the AMD Duron processor and the VIA KT133 chipset. Not that this is any huge accomplishment, but I wanted to share my experience with others in the hopes that they might benefit from it. My system is as follows:

I am thinking about replacing a Chrom ORB on an overclocked Duron (650 @ 800MHz) so that I can push the multipler to 8.5x or 9.0x rather than the 8.0x I am at right now. However, I want something QUIET. Are either of the two coolers in the subject line (Volcano II or Tailsol CGK-742092) good...
I have been having a problem with the following system:
Mobo: MSI Pro2-A
CPU: Duron 650 @ 800 (8x mult)
CPU Cooler: Chrome ORB
RAM: 384MB Mushkin PC133
SCSI: Adaptec 2930U
CD-ROM: Toshiba
CD-RW: Yamaha 8824SZ (uses SCSI card)
I have overclocking this system using the multipler and getting...

What sort of partition system do you have setup?
Are you having ANY other conflicts or troubles?
Get the W2K ide drives from the FAQ at my website (see my signature). Also get the LATEST VIA 4n1 drivers from www.viahardware.com.
As for manually detecting hardware, go into the control panel, select Add/Remove Hardware and manually select your modem if W2K still cannot find it on its own.

Whatever you do, i.e. use a Blue ORB or the stock HS, LAP it very well first. The bottom of a BLORB has more curves than my wife and the stock MSI heatsink is almost as bad. I have a BLORB on my Pro2-A and it dropped the temp on the NorthBridge by 6 deg C. I do recommend it. You can mod the...
What drivers have you installed? WHat you have listed is very ODD behavior. Have you tried to manually detect the hardware, i.e. not using the WinBlows Autodetect features?
