Power Supply issues....

The missing pin is the -5V pin, that isn't part of the ATX spec anymore, so it's no longer included. Does the rig even power up at all, or is it completely dead with the Enermax?

best way to power gtx 470 with TP new 750?

The PCIe connectors are distributed over 12V3 and 12V4. With a card with high power requirements, you would want to run one connector off each rail. Use the two hardwired ones, I believe those are on each of the respective rails.

What is the oldest PSU that you own that is in a computer and working?

300W FSP made Aopen PSU in a Pentium II rig I assembled in mid-1998. The rig does work fine, but hasn't seen any use in a while. If I hadn't dissected it, it would have been an old 230W AT PSU from 1996-ish that powered my old K6 rig.

Pssh. What is there to say_ PCP&C realized that too many people weren't buying their myths and now they're falling in line with the rest of the manufacturers. Modular is coming, I can see it already.

Using an old PSU to power an AM2 board

Yeah, the Truepower New 650W @ $99 is great value. I'd trust them now that they have gone and presented some of the greatest units on the market such as the Signatures. They may have had some turkeys in the past, but everyone can get better. And Antec seems to have gone the right way.

best/cheapest place to buy a kill-a-watt?

Keep in mind that efficiency isn't constant tho. It'll also be different depending on input voltage. (230V countries benefit from high efficiency compared to 100-115V countries).

OCZ Z-Series

If you just go and believe that, then PCP&Cs job is done, at least concerning you. Personally, I've only owned modular supplies the past three years and I'd never swap back to fixed cables. I've got no problem with corrosion, dust or any other issues that PCP&C purportedly claim will damage...

The 7600GT needs less than 40W power on its own, so I'd have to say try the old PSU and see.

Quick PSU Question (to verify my thoughts)

Yeah, peak is peak, I don't see what's "continous" about it either. It'll give you 1050W probably for less than a minute and then shut down. Frankly, IMO, peak wattage is as useful as a bucket of sand in the desert, but some manufacturers like to put that on anyways I guess...

Corsair 750TX vs Thermaltake 750

Maybe so indecisive people will just step up and up because "Well, the 650W is just a few bucks more than the 600W, but the 700W is just a few bucks more than the 650W, but then the 750 is just a few bucks more..." and so and so on, lawl. :D
