No More 1MB Athlon X2

I'd guess the 1MB cache chips are still going to be produced, they will just be sold as opterons instead of X2's. AMD has said before if needed they would focus on the server space. It makes prefect sense, sell your 1MB cache chips at a price premium, and "price war" with the smaller 512KB chips.

Some more food for thought, the 5000 has a date of 0603. Means it was made in the third week of this year. If the OP is right then AMD has kept the 333HT under wraps since atleast January.

Which EVGA card to get

I would say you'd be better off with the 7800gt. It's just better and packed with newer features. As far as I know, the 512mb does little currently, unless you have a large monitor. The FEAR demo though has shown some benefit from the 512mb I think however, so it may or may not be a sign to...

I don't think thats a good idea either. Just like they say if you use to much arctic silver you'll actually hurt your temps, I'd think puting paste on top of the pad would actually start to insulate the heat.

You should ALWAYS use thermal paste. Not sure if that's a typo on your part. Arctic Silver 5 also seems to be the thermal compound of choice among many of the members here.

What is AMD's next move?

The reason why major redesigns are so few and far between is because of one thing, $$$. It's in both AMD and Intel's interest to slowly tweak their chips because it gets us to buy more. How long it takes to develop something new who can say, but I'm sure either company could come out with...
