As I understand it a 6800GS only has 12 pipelines, there are no additional 4 to unlock. Just OC the heck out of it they seem to be very conducive to OCing.
Thanks for the reply CKXP but I don't plan on overclocking, shoulda' been a little more clear in the beginning. As it is, upgrading from a passively cooled 6600GT to a 6800 GT/GS with a referance fan is going to be bad enough unless I drop another $30 for an Arctic Cooler.

Yeah, I kinda figured that even with all the good press the GS has gotten it would be hard to discount the 16 pipes on the GT when it comes to overall performance at roughly the same price.
Thanks for the replies. We have an IDE ODD available but sometimes we have to do things the hard way just to see if it can be done like that. The mobo is an Abit AN7, we'll see if the old gal can take it from a SATA drive.

The discussion is as follows on a new build; having an nF2 mobo, SATA HDD and SATA ODD (no FDD) would a slipstreamed OS with the SATA drive CD, boot the PC?
I say no, since the SATA optical drive would not be a recognized device. IMO, an IDE ODD is required regardless if the SATA drivers...
