Window XP home edition hardware change please help

XP doesn't install over itself, it will force a re-format of the HDD before it re-installs.

Adding RAM to Windows XP

Actually yes it does. I had the same happen and you can find threads on the net about it. Microsoft has yet to address the issue. My box was toast after I took out the new RAM and added the old stick. What you may find happens is that it trashes the registry. I did get it fixed, using the XP CD...

What would another 256 ram do for me

Not a whole lot actually, XP may boot a little faster. XP can use a lot of RAM unlike 98, but in games that aren't coded to use the memory it just sits unused. Would I get another stick? Yes. If you look at the roadmap Memory Manufactures have planned, prices are just going to continue to rise...

PLEASE I need help updating BIOS on Iwill KK266 can I ............

I use the same board, had the same 1.2 AMD T-Bird, and did the same thing you are but I flashed the BIOS BEFORE installing the XP processor. To error on the side of the health of the chip, and since it's not that big a deal to reinstall the 1.2 and flash,... that's personally what I'd do.

UPDATE from EZ CD Creator 5.xx to NEW 5.1!

I haven't seen this yet so I'll post to this thread. I use Nero / FireBurner /CDRWin / DiscJuggler and CloneCD,....and yes EZCD. Nothing wrong with EZCD, I use it to burn MP3's that Nero can't. Every once in a while Nero can't read an MP3 but EZCD doens't seem to care, it burns it to a CD and...

That's not bad. You might want to think about doing a little research on RAM prices, doesn't look like they are going to do anything but keep going up so if you can find a good buy you might want to get more RAM now.

Ram prices?? Up or down?

According to eWeek (Enterprise weekly) and a few other pubs my work sends to my home the prices will continue to rise. Since there are only a few manufactors actually making RAM anymore, and they are no long battling eachother but have formed an alliance together, you can expect them to continue...

Hot deal on 12x DVD Kit ** $14.47 ** No rebates - Office Depot B&M

I bought this at Circiut City a while ago, $9.95 after rebates. It has PowerDVD version 2.0 so a bit old but for the price who cares. Nice find, but none in my area.

External SCSI question

My choices are 25 pin from controller to 50 cable to either CDRW or HDD or scanner, then 50pin to the others. I'd need another 25pin cable to 50 pin if I wanted the scanner first) This may sound weird, but is it possible that the CDRW doesn't like it's ID changed? The CDRW and scanner was set...

Memory Question

All are good, but the best out of those is Crucial so I guess it depends on what you want. Micron is the best, which is where Crucial is made, it comes off the same line. I've never had any problems with any of the memory that I've bought but all three of my machines including my laptop all have...
