If I has cash to burn, than ya -- Aiport EXTREME would work well :) it does look nice. Any truth to the 802.11g models being a bit buggier ? it's tough to tell from all the user comments, but the 802.11b ones seem more stable ...

I have a simple setup with a 4 port Linksys and a standard toshiba cable modem from Road Runner. After X hours ( sometimes 3 hours, sometimes about 20 hrs ), the red diagnostic light will go on and I'll have to power cycle the router to get my connection back on. Did some searching, and...

In Manhattan: where to donate computer hardware ?

wow -- so many responses. I've done a bunch of google searches, but was hoping to find some recommendations. It's a P3-1ghz Dell, with 1 gig of RAM, a DVD-ROM & CDRW, and a Gainward GF3 TI 200 Two CRT monitors, 21" P815 Viewsonic, and a Sony 19" G something ( forget the exact model ) Also...

In Manhattan: where to donate computer hardware ?

I now have an extra computer, 2 extra monitors, and a bunch of random ram, vid cards, etc. I rather donate it than sell it. Anybody have any recommendations ? Preferably to a place that will come to my apartment and pick up the stuff ( especially the huge 21" monitor ) thanks!

got my 9800 pro last night. haven't done much testing - but so far so good. What can I run to stress out the power ? 3dmark2003 ?

quick update: ati 9800 should arrive tomorrow. I went to 5 different radio shacks and they were all clueless about any kind of wattage meter. <off topic rant > when did radio shack replace their staff with complete idiots who only want to sell you a new cell phone plan ? </off topic rant>...

[DEAD DEAL] Dell 2001FP 20" LCD for $749 no rebates - NOT 2000FP

FreshPrince: are those shots with DVI or VGA ? Mine is quite grainy too, but I'm running VGA -- with a new ati 9800 w/ DVI on it's way ... is it possible that this graininess varies from one monitor to the other ? would that be a quality control issue ?

hmm. definately don't want to give up performance ... one other option is to get a new PS from these guys: link they claim it's Dell comptaible. If I run into problems, I will most likely just build a new PC with all my components, but get a new case/ps.

exactly the problem ... dell uses some custom PS and connectors to the motherboard ... I may look in radioshack to see if they have some wattage meters. I've seen these things you clip onto the power cord and it tells you how much juice it's consuming.

Wireless Mouse question

SeraphsSati: LOL. Then how would they be wireless :) The mouse sits in a recharger when not used -- so chances are you won't have that dead mouse scenario ....

Gaming at 800x600 on Dell 2001FP?

looks pretty good in other resolution. Havn't tried running 800x600 with AA -- that might help a bit. rocks in 1600x1200
