Realtek netcard help

I'll give the wireshark a try. One of the other machines is server 2003, the rest are all XP SP2

Realtek netcard help

There's no firewall or anti spyware software of any kind. Windows firewall service is disabled. I did go directly to realtek for the latest drivers, I got the same results unfortunately...

The machine is a clean XP install, Not much running on it. Here's something strange... I installed vmware server on it yesterday and then made a windows vista virtual machine. Used bridged networking. The vista machine runs at full speed too, lol. Next I think I'll make a XP virtual...

Realtek netcard help

I have an Abit AW9D mobo with the realtek 8168 gigabit net card built in. My machine (and the others in the house) are plugged into a netgear gigabit switch, The switch plugs into a Watchguard firewall. The firewall plugs into a cable modem (motorola surfboard 4220). My cable service is 16mbs...

Disable NCQ?

I just went thru that same nonsense when moving my HD from the IDE setting in the Bios to the RAID setting. Why can't the F8 windows boot menu include an option to add drivers via a floppy/cdrom/flash? I had to reformat and start over. silliness :)

http://www.storagereview.com/php/benchmark/bench_sort.php I looked at the gaming benchmarks there and saw that my drive did have higher scores without ncq, I figured it was free to disable ncq and I would rerun my local HD benchmark with it off to see if I got any gain. Even if I get 1%...

It does support ncq, when i open up the intel matrix storage manager it shows the drive and ncq being enabled. Not that I can change it however.. Or at least I can't change it in Intel's storage manager software.

Have an abit aw9d mobo (intel 975x chipset) and I'm using the HD controller in Raid mode in the bios. I can't see any way to disable the NCQ? The HD has no ncq disable jumber, and as far as I can tell some folks can disable it in the driver if they are using an nvidia chipset on the mobo...

Adding sata/raid drivers to an existing XP installation?

That Nlite product dosen't appear to be able to edit an existing windows installation? Or am i missing something?

I have a functioning windows xp installation and I am getting a new motherboard that has a new hard drive controller chipset. Normally when you swap motherboards the existing windows installation will blue screen on startup because the hard drive contoller has changed and it does not have...

Dual boot using F11 Boot menu.

I have 2 physical HD's in my system, one sata, and another a standard IDE drive set as master. Windows XP is installed on the sata drive, I had linux installed on the ide drive. I was not using any boot manager on my main drive (sata - windows xp). At boot, I hit F11 and choose a boot device...

Does SATA II = 300mb/s or 3gb/s?

Why does it matter when no HD can transfer data off the platter any faster than around 80mb/s? Even the newest perpendicular drive from seagate thats 15k rpms hits just over 100mb/s transfer... The interface is not the bottleneck, the platter and heads are...
