no you shouldnt have any problems with it working on xp, but id seriously consider saving it towards a total upgrade

3800+ X2 idling at 65 celsius (149 F)

have you tried to take it off and reseat the hsf. id def think about getting some thermal compound regardless though

How do you determine whether CPU or GPU bottlenecks?

play at low resoultions then increase it to a higher resolution and if the fps is the same then youre cpu bottlenecked

EVGA 8600GTS upgrade to EVGA 9800GTX+

i too would go with a 4850 hell i have one and it is great at that resolution which is what my dell 22" plays at. the 4850 also offers some nice options ie directx 10.1, hdmi audio, edge-detect so i'd consider that unless you have a bias for nvidia

Are there any AGP cards which can play 1080p videos clearly n smoothly

for a psu get this antec neo power 500w for 49.99 free shipping at buy.com. the quality is great, extra headroom for pc, and its modular. http://www.buy.com/prod/antec-...loc/101/202014022.html personally id say put that $100 towards a new cpu/mobo/gpu/ram because agp is pretty much outdated...

the 8800gt should be a nice upgrade for you but if youre planning on playing anything else besides tf2 then id go get a 4850 or 9800gtx+

the300 really isnt not that big ive built many pc's using that case before and its going to be pretty roomy since you will be using a matx board. the reason why the 640gb drive is faster is actually due to the larger 2 platter design, if you wanted to get a smaller drive then try the 320gb...

Which card to choose for this HTPC?

from my experience ati cards have usually looked better than their nvidia counterparts i currently have a visiontek 4850 and its running quiet and cool without an aftermarket fan

74gig raptor vs. 500gig western digital?

neither get the westrn digital 640gb, why? because it uses a 2 platter design which makes it much faster than the 500gb and as fast as the old raptors oh and having a largerhard drive doesnt hurt either.
