I have this same question. Why is it that Asus Probe reports higher temperature than the bios. I don't know which one is the correct reading...

Anyone running an AthlonXP 2500+ on the retail HSF?

I use arctic silver compound thingy. I even tried to overclock to 3200+ 400fsb temp normal use around 42C in asus probe. prime95 failed in about 20 minutes...load was at 49C in asus probe. Normal use was stable at 3200+. I couldn't increase the Vcore to get it stable since my Vcore now is at...

Anyone running an AthlonXP 2500+ on the retail HSF?

I just bought the 2500+, Overclocking it to 3000+ 400fsb using retail on Asus A7VN8X Deluxe 2.0. Bios Temp reading 36C, while Asus Probe reading at 41C (these temps are not idle, doing normal tasks..browse internet...word, excel, money2004 etc..). Prime95 torture test goes up to 46C reported...

Overclocking 2500+ help

I just bumped the multiplier to 11x200 and got 3200+ It strange though that the Asus Probe utility reports the cpu temp at 41C/105F but in the bios it reports as 36C. Which one lies to me? This is on retail heatsink that came with the cpu. Asus A7V8NX Deluxe rev. 2.0 (something like that...

Overclocking 2500+ help

Is this safe OC? I OC'd barton 2500+ 333 fsb to 3000+ 400fsb and on default voltage. CPU temp doing normal activity is 38C. It seems stable. multiplier 10.5 x 200 edit: Asus A7N8X deluxe rev. 2.0 how come I don't see AGP/PCI lock settings in the bios menu?

AthlonXP Motherboard with 4pin power plug

It's like the P4 connector (4-pin). I guess I am limited to Asus only.

AthlonXP Motherboard with 4pin power plug

I have a 300watts power supply that don't have the 4-pin plug, will it work on a motherboard that has it? I don't have the money to buy a new power supply yet. I know Asus A7N8X deluxe doesn't have the 4-pin. I can not afford the price tag of $129. I am looking at Shuttle AN35N Enforce2...

I'm not sure what forum to post this in...sorry. I have a dumb question to ask about IDE Raid. Can I have 2 separate raid configuration? I want to have 1 raid for the OS and Programs while the 2nd raid for video, sound etc... Is below configuration possible? Or do I have to configure all 4...

Thermalright SLK-900-U worth it?

Alpha 8045 better? my fan 80mm only spin at 2000RPM on palamino core. temp is 45C, room temp is 26C. Case 38C. better performance than SLK-900U listed on overclockers.com. "SLK-900-U, AADA 92, 3244 rpm, 56 dBA 45.5 C"

You know any place I can get them? I couldn't find anywhere that sells them. I know I know..why not get 2800+ barton? I think 2800+ Thoroughbred is a bet cheaper.
