cisco 871 router issues

i recently started connecting my eeepc to a cisco 871, and i keep losing the connection after about 2.5gb downloaded (sometimes even less). the os is ubuntu 7.1 and my main bandwidth comes from torrents. if i disconnect and reconnect, sometimes i get a new ip... sometimes not. i tried...

Asus F3KA-X1 *updated with first impressions*

two optical drives on same ide?

i've tried several times to get two different optical drives to function on the same ide channel, but it continues to fail. with my latest machine, i've found that this is a necessity, i have a dvd reading and a cd writing drive... but only one ide channel. i've tried using cable select on...

has anyone else tried playing fear on a lan and experienced a small amount of lag? example, i have an e6300, 3gb ddr2-533, x1900xt and a small network in my house. 5 of us were playing on a dedicated server on our network and i was noticing a small amount of lag in firefights, but my settings...

Conroe Dual Channel Ram

i've found that dual channel only functions when you buy a dual channel "kit." unless things have changed since my first 939 build, i'm assuming it is a means to insure that you buy more than you wanted

doesn't crossfire require a crossfire edition "mastercard," so to speak? or does a crossfire mb provide a way around that?

conroe or 939... is it that simple?

but, by that time: i will be ready to upgrade and conroe will be more affordable (based on what i already mentioned). personally, i don't foresee amd having to compete with conroe for a while... and by that time i will have sold my machine to someone for somewhere in the $1200-1500 ball-park...

hard-drive defrag time? need for speed (if i remember correctly) only loads part of a level and then loads the rest upon reaching a certain point... a messy disk will slow the loading.

if you look around for benchmarks online, i think you'll find that the difference between cl 5 and cl 6 is pretty neglible, 4 to 5 is marginally more noticeable, but those numbers would probably require electronic monitoring to notice a difference... and even then it might be as simple as a lack...

ok, when you look at just the cpus, intel's newest offering wins hands down, but, what about the total system cost? i have yet to see anyone that can give a definite speed of ddr2 that is necessary for the new conroe chips, regardless, it's much more expensive than ddr400. motherboards? how...
