New Midrange 2500K Build

Bit the bullet, ordered everything above. Newegg had the EVGA GTX 680 in stock. Scaled the ram down to 8gb, and kept everything else the same. Thanks guys...hopefully looking forward to building this thing this weekend if it ships out in time.

to VR or not to VR?

If you're shooting sports, you'll probably want the VR feature, as you'll be able to gain a couple of stops. The 70-300mm is rather slow at the long end, so hopefully you'll be shooting during a lot of sunny day games. Just for kicks, try renting (or borrowing if you have photog friends) one...

Where are the price cuts?

Simple supply and demand. There's currently not enough GTX 680s around right now for everyone to be able to purchase them. They are sold out everywhere, with the ones on ebay going for over $600. If someone is in the market for one right now, they are pretty much stuck paying a premium for...

ASRock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3 Mobo or any other Recommendations?

IIRC, they were saying its a relatively newer board, so the bios/drivers haven't had an opportunity to mature yet. That being said, there are plenty of reviews on newegg from people that have had nothing but glowing things to say about this board.

Looking to mildly overclock I7 920

These settings have worked well for me. System booted up without any issues. I ran Prime95 for 12 hours without any errors. It does appear to run a bit hot, I'm hitting temperatures in the low 70s runing prime95...at idle its about 34-35 degrees. As a baseline, on the stock settings with...
