Hey everyone,
im looking at building a media centre box soon, and was thinking of getting an AMD A64 3400 62W Mobile Processor coupled with a Gigabyte GA-K8NE Motherboard...
i remember there were issues using the XP-M cpus in desktop boards...
is the situation still the same???
can...
well, there hasn't been a major performance increase...
the only programs so far, that don't work, are aquamark3 and Daemon Tools (or any virtual drive software for that matter)
have played a few games, Warcraft 3, UT2004, LOTR:BFME
lol, thats cool...
im just a little edgy recently...for personal reasons...
anyway...
so far, have just been putting up with it and using the ESC boot menu on boot-up...i looove that feature, my old mercury board had it, and i missed it with my gigabyte!
im not a moron ok, i know how to change the boot priority...
i really don't think that changing it to master will do anything, it shouldn't...and CS does not work...EVER!!!!
if i can be bothered i'll change the jumper setting...its just such a hastle to do it with my case...
ok...having a little prob with my board...
am running Window XP Pro on my 2x200GB SATA RAID-0 array, on SATA 1&2 (i rotated the Zalman cooler on my 6800GT and now i can use the previously blocked ports!)
however, i now have a 120day trial of Win XP Pro X64...have installed that onto a 80Gb...
well, where do u think the UDSM got its information from??? THE BIOS....
and i doubt it is seriously hurting your processor...i used to run my old AXP with over .2v increased VCore sometimes (up to 1.9V from 1.65V)
r
I think thats what he meant...i did actually reply to get him to clarify some things, and one of the things i asked was that. I also pointed out the fact that you can't use the right-angled SATA connectors on those 2 near the AGP cause of the direction they face...at-least, im pretty sure...
yep...there aren't many programs currently that will take advantage of RAM over 1GB, well, IMO anyway...so there is all this extra RAM sitting not getting used, and the RAM is also transferring data at a slower speed...
*EDIT*
you can also see it in the A64 CPUs...most of them are still...
@arswihart, actually...i quite like MSI...it was just that specific board i was talking about...their 875P NEO, 915P NEO2 and K8T NEO are very good boards IMO (have used all of them)
@ UKnowWhat, i'd be surprised if this board WORKED with 4xDIMMS of 512mb of RAM....EVERY A64 S939 board i have...
absolutly no idea... and no one will be able to tell you...even if they have the same EXACT sticks and motherboard.....no 2 pieces of hardware are IDENTICAL...so they may work in one computer, and not work in another even if the whole computer is EXACTLY the same....get what im saying??
and...
yeah, nice...but you can go much higher...
i've had my comp up to 260x10=2.6Ghz, so the board can definetly go higher....think anandtech had theirs to 290Mhz...prolly the only problem you are gonna have is the RAM...if you wanna overclock more, you will need to
1.lower/loosen the timings...
i assume by "PARTNER" you mean me????
its "PANTNER"...
nah, its all good :P
if you are reffering to my post in regards to Goldenboy's internet problems???
i work in a computer store (for almost 18 months now) and deal with those problems almost daily, and have never seen a faulty...
