Just to follow up in case some one else has the same question, the pictured bend in the MB did not cause any major issues.
The IO panel doesn't fit properly (it overlaps some of the ports due to the bend) as the board doesn't totally flatten when installed - so the IO panel is left out...

I decided to call and see what NCIX thought. They approved an RMA and are sending another - hopefully it is in better shape!
Support was very good, at least so far, but its not over yet...

For clarity, here are some photos that show the problem.
The board was propped up with foam ear plugs on the far side of the picture in order to lift the back plate off the table and make the flat portion sit flat.
There is a noticeable bend under the heat...

I have put together all of my own computers and have never seen a mobo come out of the box with a warp before. There has been no heatsink (or CPU) on the board and it has not been installed in a case.
Is it normal to have some bend in a motherboard?

I believe I found the difference.
After installing over a fresh image w/o any drivers, and a bit of trial and error, it seems that the difference is the ATI Catalyst Control Center. My previous system used Omega drivers, and I installed the regular ATI ones this time....

I have noticed a significant change in the system memory usage reported by the task manager in Win XP Home SP2 after a system upgrade.
I am wondering if this is due to a different chipset or different type of CPU??
