Acer Aspire 9410 reboots whenever a desktop program is started

Hi all, I'm a comp tech and I'm stumped, doesn't happen very often but I'm stumped! I have an Acer Aspire 9410 4441. Upgraded OS to windows 7 Ultimate, have 2gb ram. The cmos battery is shot, I have to reset the date/time after every power down cycle. This machine will boot up into Win7 Ult...

What is best fix for XBox Kinect fan failure?

quikah, the "FOUR" refers to the amount of WIRES connected to the OEM fan, two being voltage supply( + and - Vcc) and the other two MP data sent back to motherboard! I corrected original post so as not to be confusing . . . thanks quikah!

What is best fix for XBox Kinect fan failure?

The fan at the back of the Kinect unit has died. A friend said to use any fan powered by an external USB source. But what about the two other wires (of the four wires total, first two wires being Plus and Minus Vcc) on the bad fan, RPM and TEMP? If I put an external fan, powered externally...

USB ext 500GB Problem

Thanks all for the replies. I was also given advice NOT to attempt data recovery by way of the USB port??? This is a very thin (less than 8mm thick) drive that looks like it is factory sealed. if I attempt to open it, even with great care, the possibility of damage to the hard drive is high...

I'm also wondering if when USB drives first came out especially in large sizes, that you HAD to execute a software "eject" on them to prevent this kind of error. But I'm thinking newer USB removable drives, whether they were large ext HD(as in this case 500gb) or smaller size flash drives, had...

Thanks for reply, I'm scanning with the "Last Chance" option of Active File Recovery checking for disk errors. I've used Ease Us before to recover data but will it fix the dual partition situation?

USB ext 500GB Problem

I think this is the right forum, "Memory and Storage" that is, But I have a 8-9 year old Seagate USB 500GB ext slim drive. It was xfering/playing fine with movies and music stored on it, but now, although it lights up, it is not recognized by my laptop or desktop or a media device (MxqPro)...

Opinions/Advice/Solution needed. I ordered a 2TB WD "Passport" backup drive for a computer running WinXP. I must have still been under anesthesia thinking, 1) XP would recognize such a large hard drive, AND . . . 2) that this 2TB passport would NOT come GPT formatted which XP also does...
