i'm trying to connect to my linux box running a samba server, but the pop up dialog won't let me enter the username/pass that is set on samba. it's greyed out like so. i'm pretty certain it's not a problem with the linux box because this only started when i reinstalled xp on this computer, and...

ah i finally figured it out, my firewall was blocking it. opened up a few ports and i was good to go. thanks for all your help everyone.

smbd and nmbd are running, and i think i'm using all the right security settings, usernames, shares, etc. buti never even have a chance to enter a username/pw from the xp box.

ok so here's the deal now, i got a gui samba client working for kde (which i like much more than gnome btw), and i managed to mount a share from my xp box to my linux box. i'm listening to mp3s off the xp box right now. BUT i still can't access the linux box from the windows box. it can locate...

i can't access a folder on my computer and i have no idea why

yep, doesn't work in NTFS. i tried safe mode and it didn't work and i went into recovery mode but i can only access the partition that windows is on, and this folder is on another partition. any ideas?

there's this one folder on my computer i cannot access, rename, move, delete, modify or anything. i can't delete any folders that contain it either. when i try to open the folder this pops up. it's not absolutely vital that i delete this folder, but it's still an annoyance to not have control...

Funny. I don't mean electronics as in MP3 players, TVs, cell phones; I mean electronics as in resistors, circuits, and transistors. Many people know much about the fomer while being totally inept with the latter (myself included).

I need some sort of small in-line device that can take a mic in (either 1/8" or 1/4") and output to 1/8" or RCA. It would also need to run on batteries or the 12V from a car. So basically what it would be like is a box that you plug a microphone into and if you wanted you could plug some...
