Help me pick out a new case!!!

If that's the amount of space you need, then the Antec SX10xx is probably not the case for you. You might want to look at one of the big honkin' Addtronics cases - they might be available in this price range. The Antec you would be looking for is th SX12xx, and they are probably out of yoour...

Quiet at Last, but not Silent--Any ideas?

You can also get strips of 1/8" thick rubber and put them on the tops and bottoms of the HD cage. It'll be a bit of a push to get the cage back on and seated firmly, but that'll cut the vibrations transmitted from the cage to the rest of the case.

Silverado

<< someone i know, not me personally, has the SK6 and YS-Tech fan, and was cooling his 1.4 to 51, and with the Silverado @ 10V, it's cooling to about 46 ConfusedBW >> How odd. I had my Silverado @ 8V on my non-OC 1GHz Athlon, and it was 41C. My SK-6, on the same rig, is 38C with an 80mm YS...

SK6 plus Silencer 80mm on tbird 1.4

I've got a 28dB/38cfm YS Tech 80mm on my 1GHz, and it is in the high 30's, so the silencer may put you quite a bit higher than that - it depends on what you're after, and what safety margin you're looking for! (though I've been contemplating a similar move recently...) :D

FYI: Best conducting fan and most quiet heat sink

I don't know, when the squirrels that are turning my ghetto, no-power-required, ultra-silentwater cooling pump and beer dispenser take a break and start chattering at each other, they're pretty loud, too! :D ;)

Thermalright sk6 OMG it rocks but sounds like a jetliner.

If you've got a spare 80mm sitting around, you don't need the adapter for the SK-6. Turn the fan 45 degrees and use the short clips to hold it on. It should snap in fairly easily (takes a little bit of dexterity to get both clips on at the same time), but make sure that it clears the blades of...

which fan to use for new hsk's....????

The sk-6, because of the clips it uses to mount fans, can have an 80mm fan mounted on it at a 45degree angle. I have not tried it yet (mobo is being replaced...), but other people are reporting really good results with it. The choice I made for a new HSF: sk-6 + a YS Tech 80mm. Results will be...

Antec case fan specs? Which of these is better?

Check out Gizzo's fan page to look for fan specs for most major manufacturers. You should be able to find comparable fans there, and compare them to the ones you're thinking about...

Acoustical foam / sound dampening

Think of it this way, would you want to wrap your body (a heat producer) in open cell or closed cell foam? The walls of a case act as a less efficient heatsink to the outside world for the heat inside the case. If you foam the inside of your case, then you putting an insulator as well as a sound...
