That's actually not bad at all. However, if you wanted to lean more towards gaming, I would consider getting a second 7970, which then means you will need to get a bigger PSU. But other than that it seems just fine.

Exactly HOW BIG do you think the enthusiast market is? What percentage of that enthusiast market is most concerned with performance/watt instead of just straight up performance? THAT is why Intel doesn't bother with it.

But then If you wait another year after that, you will get 2x the performance of Titan and 1/3 of the price! So you guys are dumb for not waiting till 2015. And even those people that wait till 2015 are dumb because there will be an even more powerful card for less cost in 2016!! So yeah...

All these people complaining about the price.. IMO if you don't like the price, then don't buy it. While this would be a flagship, it would be in the lines of an ARES card - not in full production, probably a limited edition run. If that's the case, you don't have anything to worry about...

It all depends on what you (or your son) is trying to achieve. Do you want to do full graphic settings all the way to the highest at 1080p? Or is the monitor a lower resolution and do you think he would be fine with 30fps? Also, how tech savy are you/your son? Basically, you don't need to know...

My question is, unless you need 8 cores, why not switch to the superior sandy/ivy bridge line? Honestly, that would be the ONLY sound option to do - cause the "upgrade" to AM3+ will do almost nothing for you aside from the accessories that come with it. Might as well get the accessories AND the...
