    How do I make the headphone plug on my cd-rom work?

    I use a splitter on the back of my soundcard so I have the speakers and my headphone connected at the same time, I could not swap that easy to now I don't have to any more :D

    Nero problem

    I assume you mean recording without pauses in between the numbers. You should be able to do this with almost any recording program, you should select the disc at once option and in Nero you have to change the time gap between the numbers which is by default set to 2 seconds to 0 seconds...

    Is plextor still the best?

    I was told that Lite-On and Plextor have the same electronics and "wheel work". But the Lite-on's are much cheaper.:D

    Is it true that you can only read a CD as fast as it's been written?

    No way. I do know that it can be true for the other way around. I used to have an older computer standing around with a 2 speed CD-rom , when I made CD's at 4 speed or higher they could not be read by the 2 speed CD-rom when written at 2 speed or lower they could be read.
