I'd like to put a 8800GTX in a server to work on some custom number crunching.
But the server has a 16x physical slot with 8x electrical lanes - Any one know if this will work?
Thanks -
I want to overclock a quad core QX6700 with NVidia 680 SLI chipset.
Will using 4GB instead of 2GB total hurt the overclocking?
Thinking of using two sets of Corsair XMS2 Dominator 8888C4

I know with previous AMD systems 4GB was bad...
I've just saw someone reference a blog that "proves" Anand is bought off and Conroe is nothing great here: sharikou.blogspot.com
Anyone know if this guy is for real?
The person below claims he is a fraud Phd.
From what I can tell your Seasonic is about the best power supply you can get right now - quiet, high efficiency, rock solid output.
Only went with the NEO HE430 because it was a little more convenient. Can't go wrong with Seasonic.
Thanks for the tip - I did find this out before hand and ordered the P150 directly from Antec to get one of the "updated" power supplies - tested and working.
It is a terrible thing that happened to so many people though - I really think Antec should offer to pay shipping both ways or...
I've never seen anyone run a processor with this kind of TDP in a totally passive mode with no fan or water attached to the CPU.
If you've done it, it would be interesting to hear about.
Actually I was only aware of a review with exact measurements for the Ninja - The Shogun looks impressive but I just haven't read anything on it yet.
I considered a raid setup, but after weighing the pros and cons for my usage profile I thought better to keep it a tad simpler with one fast...
I can't say for this exact system until it's all put together, but it was reviewed with temps and noise with the same fan I'm using here:

good question -
The MB was chosen because it's fanless and has 8-phase power which in theory allows it to run cooler than other boards. of course, every degree cooler usually means less airflow required which usually means quieter.
couldn't find such a board without SLI support, so just...
>If no gaming, why the raptors? Should have bought 2x 500GB and RAID 1
It's only 1 Raptor, the 150GB model.
The reason for a fast primary drive is that the coding project I work on is fairly large and takes a long time to constantly compile and run.
The reason for the second 500GB is...

a couple of replies:
- believe it or not i'm building this for work more than play, so my GPU will "only" be a $175 refurb 6800GT. my job (photo stuff) benefits from fast everything, but mostly 2D graphics.
- the 24" 6ms monitor was also a refurb - a steal...
