You are implicitly claiming that pure gaming speed is the only thing that should ever determine the pricing of a videocard, which is nonsense. If a product is the best on the market on even one metric, and no other product can completely replace it, then the manufacturer can charge whatever...

[TFTCentral - Review] Acer XB270HU - 27" 144Hz IPS G-Sync

I don't have Gsync display yet, but messed around with a ROG Swift display unit at a store. There's a checkbox for Gsync in the driver settings. If it's turned on, then any in-game vsync option will toggle between Vsync and Gsync instead of Vsync and tearing.

At what point do pixels become too small to make visible difference?

And the 140PPI of a 32" 4K display is already very nice - about 30% higher better than a run-of-the-mill 27" 1440p display offers. Move it a bit farther back on the desk than usual, and it's "retina".

The table shows 2xMSAA for the 780 Ti, and TXAA for Titan. You are claiming 2xMSAA is more demanding than TXAA. That is false. http://www.tweakguides.com/Crysis3_6.html

What textures can be used says nothing about how fast the GPU is, so the texture setting is irrelevant. The different AA settings on the two GPUs are significant: they imply the Titan is faster, which it is not.

The table lists otherwise identical performance settings for the Titan and the 780Ti, but TXAA for the Titan where 2xMSAA is listed for the 780 Ti. TXAA takes more performance than 2xMSAA. Thus the table seems to imply the Titan is faster than the 780Ti.

Does a good 2560x1440 27" monitor exist?

The TN panel and the viewing angle + gamma shift + color shift compromises coming with it are the ROG Swift's real problems.

Learning programming

The first programming language I learned was C++. I have taught programming on a bunch of courses at university level, mostly C and C++. Both of them are awful for a first programming language. If you are learning by yourself and don't have quality teaching and support, they are even worse...

Sega to increase pc releases

I might pick up Valkyrie Chronicles, but what I really want Sega to release on PC is their action titles - because those have been compromised much more severely by the console limitations. Vanquish is at the very top of my list. Let me play it on PC at 120FPS in the display's native resolution...

For around $350, is the GTX970 or R9 290x my better option?

I have no idea how this thread has 69 posts and not a single one mentions G-Sync. That's half of the reason why I'd go with the 970. If you choose to take advantage of it, it can be a huge bump in effective performance. Consider two cards of equal power, of which only one has G-Sync support...

Asus ROG Swift PG278Q vs Acer XB280HK: Help meh. Can't decide.

IMO, the ROG Swift is currently the only worthwhile buy if you want G-Sync. The Acer would have to be significantly cheaper to be worth considering. It's physically too small to take proper advantage of 4K resolution on desktop, especially considering Windows' scaling issues. For games the 4K...
