Not the faster 16 Gbps modules though. AMD uses those on the upcoming RX 6000 series too, so I assume Nvidia saw an opportunity now for the RTX 3060 to double VRAM size without exploding prices.
A 12GB 3060 is a smart move, since the endless bitching about another 6GB card would have backfired too hard. Besides GDDR6 modules with 16Gb density should finally be in volume production.
I suppose all the other GA104 based cards using 8GB VRAM will get a SUPER refresh with 16GB VRAM by next...
Update: I've RMA'd my MSI board as the issue started to return again, and replaced it with an Asus ROG Strix B450-E board. All problems vanished, so I'm 99% sure the fault was with the MSI board.
MSI answered me that it might be the PSU, that it can't build up enough Voltage at boot. Seems unlikely though due to its irregularity. Also I once had a failing PSU a long time ago and that manifested itself differently through boot-loops (Boots up, down, up, down, then finally up). The...
No, but I did upgrade from an older pre-Zen 2 version (v14), which started to exhibit the same problems. PC ran normally for over a year and then suddenly the boot issue pop out of nowhere. BIOS update to v1B didn't change that.
And once the cold boot issues arise again, the same happens once I...
That's too bad. Well, I'll keep playing and trying around and update this thread if I ever find a permanent solution. And please do the same if you ever discover anything new!
Hello, have you figured out since then what the error was?
I have the same Mobo, and the same problems started to occur since I've plugged in a new video card, but only a couple weeks afterwards. A CMOS battery removal seems to fix this issue, but only for days or maybe weeks, then the whole...
Nvidia's 12nm will likely be easily competitive with AMD's 7nm products.
Just like Maxwell 28nm had about the same performance/TDP ratio as Polaris 14nm. Lol.
Dunno, perhaps Nvidia doesn't feel threatened by Vega, hence the tick-tock strategy. Perhaps they'll save a 7nm Volta for 2018/2019 against Navi. Or perhaps it's all bollocks and they will launch consumer Volta as usual.
So according to Fudzilla, the next Geforce product line won't be based on Volta, but on "a Pascal influenced design derived shrink down":

That makes actually sense.
Ohhh interesting. GP106 launch, too? Wonder how AMD will react...ahem.
You folks didn't think I was serious?
You're removed from VC&G for a month.
