geforce 6600 video card, window xp os, i removed the original driver after putting the new card in. I tried driver clearn no help

I downloaded the correct driver but when i try to install it it says it cannot find the correct hardware for the drivers i'm trying to install.. wtf...

Abit IP35 PRO

I'm having trouble getting my sound card to fit b/c the 4 pin power connection is in the way? Do i really need to have it plugged in? Isn't the 4 pin power connection just for the 2nd pci slot?
