VIA 333 v 266A

I cant remember where, but i read that the VIA 333 chipset is a very good upgrade from the VIA 266 chipset. The improvement wasnt huge, but it was noticeable. Sorry I cannot be of more help.

Can a motherboard be tested outside a case? I have the components....

yeah, you should be able to. I saw some guy at a computer show run his whole computer outside of a case. I wouldnt recommend doing it too much, but you can.

you prolly have to replace the phase change thermal interface material on the bottom of the heatsink.
