Weird problem

It does not seem to happen in safe mode. It does continue to happen when XP starts normally. I loaded more recent video drivers and uninstalled he printer. Still happening.

Machine won't start

new vid card and RAM -- now we can't boot

Thanks! Well, I've tried pulling out the RAM, a stick at a time. I've also moved them to other slots. Sometimes it won't boot -- and sometimes it does. This is frustrating. If the RAM was bad wouldn't refuse to work every time? All advice is appreciated.

"Frequency out of range"...?

Pardon my inexperience, but how do i permanently change the VGA mode? In safe mode i right click the screen, click properties and settings, but the changes i make don't "take". The problem still exists. Is there another way to do it? Thanks.

Player-wise, I generally use WinDVD 5 -- if that's what you mean. However, I'm not sure what you mean by the DVD codec. By trying another, do you mean a different player, e.g., PowerDVD? Or are you referring to something else? Thanks!
