No, but the purpose of an HT chip is for the gains in large parallel processing. If your using it effectively the chip is going to use programs that make it only a slight bit less toasty. 4.8ghz doesn't remind me of ease (especially with cases of throttling above that point based on performance...

This doesn't address my last point. Gamers 8600k. All arounders 8700. Gamers who want to spend less 8400. The OC on the 8700k will realistically do nothing for games or applications in 1080p or above(where even slower and less core CPUs already max the GPU by sometimes several magnitudes...

Good Performance all things considered, however not without a few bad self-inflicted points: Why waste $50+ more on the 8700k with base 8700 almost identical in turbo settings, and stock 8700k vs OC 8700k has very minimal performance improvements(only in fully parallel MT workloads). However...

I do not think your necessarily wrong. One of the two chips SHOULD cannibalize some of the sales of the other. Either the 8600k cannibalizes 8700k, or the 8700k cannibalizes some of the 8600k. The purpose of these two chips is either maximum game performance or all around chip. The only issue...

8700k/8600k Simulated Results - How close to actual??

CFL does have larger cache, so may be less effected by poor timings. Regardless, Those aren't even AVERAGE 7700k scores. That is one of the worst 5 ghz 7700k scores I have ever seen. I explained above, and even mentioned my own scores. I'm reaching that score at 4.5ghz and 3000mhz ram. 1100 CB...

That is Clearly cherry picking. Its taking the best coffeelake scores and the shittiest 7700k scores. most 7700k with decent ram at 5ghz reach 1100. The highest I've ever seen is around 5.2ghz, with OC'ed uncore and samsung b die was around 1200. My 7700k at 4.5 enchanced all core and 3000mhz...

1440p and overwatch weirdness.

SCROLL TO BOTTOM IF YOU WOULD LIKE THE SKIP MY EXPLANATION AND GO STRAIGHT TO REVIEW. Max is not average nor is it 1% minimums. This was brought up on Anandtech threads before. There are benchmarks that show a 1080TI cannot maintain above 144fps regardless of processor platform on max settings...

Something in overwatch was not set to epic, or scaling was not 1440p, but rather 1080p and you didn't notice. The scaling takes a huge amount of resources. 1080TI even with 960 pro, 7700k, and 32gb dual rank 3200 cl14 is incapable of maintaining above 144fps at 1440p with correct scaling and all...
