Celeron M 1.40 GHz > Athlon XP 2500 ???

backing up files on dvdr

I have literally thousands of jpop/jtv that I need to backup. But what can I use to create like a searchable database/catalog so I can quickly locate which files are on which dvdr afterwards? Thanks.

Firefox cause hd thrash

Say I have a few tabs open in Firefox then I switch to some other program for a while. Then when I click Firefox again, it causes the hd to thrash like crazy and takes a long time before I can actually use it again. I use Opera too and this doesn't happen, even with more tabs open, it doesn't...

output directory list to file

Want to make a list of some files along with filesizes if possible. Something like what "dir > somefile" but it doesn't work with unicode filenames. Is there a program or some way to do this? Thanks.

adding memory

Right now I have 2x256 ddr333. I want to add a 512 ddr400 of different brand. It should be okay right? I had mixed pc100 and pc133 memory in my old celeron466 with no problems. But I just want to make sure. Thanks.

AIW Radeon 7200 32m temporary or longer solution for MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum?

switching on/off comp disconnects DSL on network comp

AIW Radeon 7200 32m temporary or longer solution for MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum?

I have a Matrox G450 in my old comp and AIW Radeon 7200 (for tv and multimedia) in my newer comp. I don't notice any difference in 2D quality and viewing DVD's is better with the Radeon cuz it has does some hardware aceleration. But tv-out is definitely better with G400/450. Radeon 7200...

Also the 7000 only has 800x600 max tv-out resolution. The 7500+ onwards can do 1024x768. And to be safe, get the ATI cards not Sapphire or other brands etc. I've read some models of Sapphire cards have bad tv-out quality.
