Yes I tried a variety of ways including just 1 stick. I was looking to build a Win7 x64 box with my Q9550 but now I need to find a motherboard that will accept the memory

Looking for compatible motherboard

I have 8GB of Patriot PVS24G8500 DDR2 RAM and am looking for any 775 board that will support it. I tried ASUS P5Q boards and don't even get a post. Anyone know what boards will support this RAM or where I can find a listing? Thanks in Advance for any help

New Build Help

Tried the mobo+power+cpu with no ram or gpu. Got one long beep (Award Bios). Could the problem be the CPU? That is about the only thing I have not changed. I can't remember getting a new AMD CPU that was bad usually it is the board. I suppose it could be.

NTLDR is missing....press Ctrl-Alt-Del to Restart on install

Thanks for all the assistance. Razel was on the right path. I needed to modify the BIOS to set the SATA DVD drive as IDE. After I did that the PC booted from the Installation disk and no message about NTLDR. Thanks again everyone for the help

So if I understand what you are saying correctly. I should put in a WindowsXP Boot CD and run fdisk and format the HDD from that first, Then I will be able to install to OS. Hopefully I will be able to get the CD to read first.

I'm not sure what you mean by "set to active in the BIOS" The hard drive is properly recognized in the BIOS. What else should I look at. I did not change the settings from when it booted from CD then HD except to change all priorities to CDROM to try and force the PC to read the disk first.

I built a new box with the bare essentials. MB with onboard video, CPU, RAM Single IDE harddrive, SATA DVDRW drive. Put in my Win7 install DVD and started installation. Win7 could not find the hard drive. I then tried an old WinXP installation CD. That got me a BSOD. Then I tried "MaxBlast"...

MSI K8 Neo System problems

I am trying to resolve a problem with this system. I have a K8Neo Plat board that I have RMAd and received the replacement. I installed WinXP and the system will hang and freeze. I need to do a cold reboot to bring the system back. When I do cold boot, I do not get the Windows message about...

NEW EGG MOTHERBOARD REFURBS

Where does everyone get the motherboard I/O shields (backplates) for these refurb boards that doesn't cost an arm & a leg. I was looking at an ASUS board and found a place on the net that wanted $8 for the backplate and of course every board needs a different backplate.

Could you PM me or explain how you found the coupon? All I find is the one that expired on 12/31. My old PS fried the motherboard and I am looking for a good reliable one this time that has enough power to run a large system that is constantly growing.

the MSI MS-8871 Geforce 4 TI4400, reccomendable ?

I have looked at this model also. The ti4400-VTD (full with VIVO) runs around $215 but the ti4400-TD (Champion edition) is going for about $30 less. MSI is making a Champion Edition for all their Geforce4 TI's now. Most online retailers are stocking the TD model instead of the VTD model...
