When trying to perform a Windows XP Clean Install (Interactive Setup) using either a GeForce2 or GeForce4 card, the process comes to a halt after saying, "Setup is starting Windows."
However, when using a RADEON, the install works to completion.
Any ideas about what's going on here?
My question, to which I've gotten too many varying answers from stores, is simply whether using an Athlon 900 mhz (200mhz fsb) and PC133 memory there will be any performance benefit in having a motherboard with a 266 FSB (K7T Turbo)as opposed to a 200 FSB (K7T Pro 2-A.
I'd greatly appreciate...
While I find the on-board sound to be satisfactory on the K7T Pro2-A, there is, however, an annoying "pulse" of static when powering on the system with the speakers already on. This did not happen on another system using a dedicated sound card. Turning the speakers on and off would be...
I find the on board sound to be alright on the K7T Pro2-A. There is, however, a "pulse" when powering on the system with the speakers already on. This did not happen on another system using a dedicated sound card. Turning the speakers on and off would be a nuisance. Any ideas? Thanks.
If possible, please direct me to a tutorial on using the various options called for by the VIA 4-In-1 Driver. For example, what's the proper response to inquiries about DMA and Turbo? Thanks.
I'm putting together a 900MHZ Athlon system which will use Win 98 (not SE). My interet in video is nothing more than sharp 2D and sufficient 3D acceleration to use with those flight simulation programs requiring (important) OpenGl.
It seems to me that whatever I get will prove to be inadequate...
Might motherboard slots be damaged by frequently installing and removing PCI cards. Might the cards themselves be damaged in the process? The question is prompted by an interest in experimenting with a variety of cards.
Which type of fan is preferred by those who understand this stuff? Is it better to run a case fan off the power supply or an appropriate 12V fan off the motherboard.
How is fan power connector S_FAN1 used? It's much too small to use with the rear case fan that came with the In-Win case. I understand that the tiny fan power connector C_FAN1 is used for the CPU fan and have used it that way.
Aren't case fans run off the power supply? Thanks for any response...
I appreciate the responses I've gotten. If I install the CPU/heat sink combo onto the motherboard before installing the motherboard itself into the case, is there any particular way to cushion the board while working on it?
The title pretty much indicates my uncertainty. The CPU/Heat Sink is a boxed Athlon 900 set. Should the CPU/heat sink combination be installed onto the MSI K7T Pro2-A motherboard before or after installing the motherboard into the case?
Thanks from a first timer.
The new IN-WIN IW-S508-IW and ENLIGHT 7237A4Z cases and their 300 watt power supplies seem to be meant for the Pentium 4. Would they be suitable for the Socket A motherboards required by AMD Athlon processors, and if not, why not? Thank you.
I believe the MSI does not have Wake on Ring or Modem capability, whereas the ABIT does. Could this fact could affect the performance of a fax/modem when the unit is powered down?
