Well I did some research and I think its related to ATI drivers for my 4850. I rolled drivers back to 9.3 and haven't had a crash since. Hopefully, that was the problem.
Well, more issues. Now the game crashes to desktop about 50% of the time at launch. It has also frozen 3 times in a row when I was able to get to the character creation menu. WTF? Shouldn't this crap be fixed by now.
Try out King's Bounty. It's pretty good, but I got bored with it before I could finish. The fights got a little repetitive, but its probably close to what your looking for.

COD4 has a pretty short campaign, but I think it is done very well. I can't remember if the PC version has it, but I had a ton of fun doing the arcade mode in single-player on the 360 version with some friends. I believe you unlock it after you beat the game. Tons of replay value trying to...

Well I downloaded the 10GB+ free trial. Tried to get it to run - just hangs on black screen as soon as the game launches. Spent almost an hour dredging through the tech support to find the "top 4 reasons why you get a black screen on launch" - LMAO . Did all 4 of them. Still get black...
