Question What do you think is most important when considering a mobile phone CPU?

Truthfully, it's not something I give much thought to. I don't do anything fancy on my phones and usually just buy the cheap prepaid phone with the best specs. I've had a $100 Moto e5 Cruise for close to two years now and it still gets the job done. If I were ever going to buy a flagship phone...

Worst CPUs ever, now with poll!

Worse is an understatement. A Willamette P4-1400 was about as fast as a P3-900. The first P4's were dreadful. Once Intel beefed up the cache, better compliers were written, and the clock speeds went past 2 GHz, it was a competitive part, but still was terribly inefficient. I voted for the Itanic...

Pale Moon switching engines!

Personal preference. I use Pale Moon all of the time, because I don't want to use a corporate browser, and Firefox, to me, is just plain awful these days. The new UI looks like a half-baked clone of Chrome and works even worse. Pale Moon isn't perfect, but it's the best alternative.

Can I put a Phenom x4 into THIS AM2+ MOBO?

This has nothing to do with AMD. Any AM2+ motherboard will physically support any AM3 (but not AM3+) CPU, even a Phenom II X6 1100T. Whether or not the motherboard has BIOS support and strong enough VRM's to power it are up to whoever made the motherboard. And if you think Intel is any more...

YAXPT: Will you stop using XP after support runs out?

Actually, most of XP was built in 1999, when the NT 5 kernel was introduced in Windows 2000. In computer terms, XP is Mesozoic. I retired my last XP system a few years ago, and dual boot Windows 7 and Mint 16 these days.

How does this $80 AMD stack up against a Core i3 540?

AMD processors struggle on any games that are heavily dependent on single-thread performance. The only way to get single-threaded performance in the same ballpark as an Intel chip is to buy an FX and overclock it, and even then the Intel will often win. AMD is very good value for the money if...

AMD Smoother than Intel?

Free app to clone a HD (DOS/BIOS, not Windows)?

You're almost always better off just downloading a copy of your version of Windows from the Digital River site and then reinstalling from that, using your OEM product key. You'll have to go through the activation process again, but you'll also end up with a clean install without the crapware...

SOLVED: Best CPU upgd from Phenom x3 8750 on Asus M3A78-EM

So I found an old SoundBlaster Audigy...

Any dedicated sound card that isn't total crap is going to sound better than onboard. The Audigy might be old, but it is real hardware. I'm not a fan of Creative and haven't used one of their cards in probably 15 years, but they are way better than using onboard if you want good sound.

A10-7850K or i7-4770k for computational tasks

Kaveri wins if your software can actually use its capabilities. Otherwise, you'd be a lot better off with a 4770K. Any current Intel quadcore or better is going to beat Kaveri in CPU performance.
