    anyone here from the I.E.

I have several suggestions: 1. Avoid the tumbleweeds. They can strike you in the eyeball and can cause permenant damage to your sight. 2. Avoid the trailerparks. Although there are usually no tornados in the IE, there exist many unruly folks in such places. These individuals usually have...

I agrue that it would not apply to the internet because it is not a scarce resource in the same way as radio. It would not apply to TV either. I know ppl get their new from any sources, but I agrue the one particular Voice does not have right to control one particular medium, that is, the...

    Fairness Doctrine

There are a lot of assumptions here that I don't know to be true. In any case, the reason why it doesn't extend to Internet, newpaper, etc is because AM radio is considered PUBLIC AIRWAVES which are a SCARCE resource. I can't say it any more clearly than the Supreme Court: "A license...

I think that we need a clarification, because we are not all on the same page. I am NOT advocating censorship. WIKI LINK Quote from 1969 Supreme Court Red Lion Broadcasting Co. v. FCC: "A license permits broadcasting, but the licensee has no constitutional right to be the one who holds...

    Fairness Doctrine

I don't think that anyone would decide what is fair and balanced, the law would give ppl an opportunity to express opposing view points. In Germany's last free election (1932 I think) the Nazi party got ~30 % of the vote. A large portion of their influence and propaganda came over the radio...

Coporations don't have absolute power to have monopolies over everyone. If Intel had monopoly on making processors then I would argue that there WOULD be govt intervention. With the increasing consolation of media, especially in radio, there exits the potential for the public airwaves to...

    Fairness Doctrine

To the best of my knowledge, based on what I've read about the fairness doctrine, it would only apply to radio and not TV. I'm not exactly sure why, but I'm guessing because most TV channels are paid for (cable, etc), unlike public radioairwaves where anyone can listen for free.

    Fairness Doctrine

Well yes to some extent newpapers can, but again they are not limited by a finite number of frequencies to spread there information. In other words, its much harder, perhaps impossible, for a newspaper to have a complete monopoly on the information. QT

If they are on the radio, I guess it would apply to them. I was referring to TV which is regulated differently. QT

    Fairness Doctrine

Network news is private and not regulated in same way as radio. And unlike public airwaves, newspapers are not limited by a certain number of public frequencies. In other words, its a lot harder for a newpaper to have a monopoly on information that way radio can.
