I was wondering if there is a way to set up my burner so that i can turn it off after boot up and then only turn it on when i want to use it? The way it is now if i turn it off it disappears outta my computer and when i turn it back on its still gone i have to reboot to get it to show up again...
Ok got it working. Had to install my scanner first since it runs off the ltp port and printer just plugs into the scanner. sounds simple enough but problem was in win 98 it didn't matter if the scanner was installed or not it would still let the information pass through it so it could print.
Do you have this hard drive connected to the ata100 controller or the ata66 controller on your motherboard?
If it is hooked up to the ata100 controller it will list it as a scsi device.
Nope can't do a test page either.... gonna have to reboot so i can go into 2k and tell ya the error.. It acts as tho it is goin to print.. ie ... opens dialog box print icon goes to taskbar and shows it as printing but it does nothing. ok it just says There was an error found when printing...
When i try to print it acts like its going to then does nothing. Checked for drivers but there are none it says the drivers are on the win 2000 cd. and those are loaded but for some reason it just won't do anything. I know it is all hooked up right because when i can still print in win 98 but...
looks like this was my fault.. I hooked it back up to the ata66 controller and loaded the drivers for the promise ata100 controller and all is workin well... thx for the help

ok I'm dual booting win98 and win2k. I have an asus a7v mobo and had to hook the ata100 hd up to the ata 66 channel to get 2k to load to it... Everything boots fine as long as I am on the ata66 channel but when i put the hd back on the ata100 channel i can't get into win2k. It starts loadin then...

I am a real newbie to flashing the bios and have no clue which utility to use since there a like 5 listed on the asus site.. Also i see alot of ppl talkin about bios version 1005a and 1005b where are you finding them? The lastest 1 I see on the asus site is 1004c. THX
I was wanting to install linux (preferable mandrake) on my ata100 hd... I have an asus a7v mobo (w/ata100 on board). But everytime i try it doesn't find the hard drive. have attempted mandrake 7.0 and 7.2. It does however find my other 2 hd's which are on the ata66 controller. Any ideas on...
I don't think i can swap anything around.. I have 1 40gig ata 100 drive on the ata100 primary, i have a 13.5 gig and a 20 gig hard drive on the ata66 primary and a 12x dvd on the ata66 secondary controller.... the 40 gig hard drive is the only 1 that is ata 100 bothe the others are ata 66.
