Here's the deal: I have a Viewsonic 17" E70f (CRT) on the left of me and a Dell 2007FPW (LCD) in front of me hooked up to a single ATI x1800xt. The Viewsonic connects through a DVI/VGA adapter. A few hours ago I leaned back to watch the two displays mysteriously switch on me. The desktop of one...
After playing around with my new card for a few weeks, I've noticed two very odd things:
1) The card makes a noise when rendering. When I run a program that just renders a black screen with DirectX and achieve absurd frame rates (10000+), there is a noticable high pitched squeal. If I run...
Where's this fan speed setting? I got the tray tools but I can't find it. I've started getting random artifacts (a corrupted frame every 15 or so minutes), but only when the GPU is on full load.
To Bob: It's in the CCC under ATI Overdrive.
My x1800xt idles at 62 C and reaches 83 C at full load. I know GPUs get hotter than CPUs but this seems a little extreme to me. I'm using the stock cooler, but I've done no overclocking at all. Is this typical, and if not, is my card about to melt?
Mine came with the power cable, VGA cable, DVI cable, and USB cable for the built in hub. I don't believe it came with an S-Video cable, but with the mess in my room, who knows.
I've had this motherboard for a few days and there's a peculiar quirk about it that's bothering me. When I power it up, all the fans will spin up to full for a few seconds and then everything turns off (including the case power LED). A few seconds later it will power up like it should. I've...
I took a look at these in store today and was a little surprised. The Viewsonic was rather washed out compared to the Samsung, but I couldn't really tell much else because they were all just hooked up to a dvd player with piss poor resolution :(. I got a closer look at the LG and decided it...
I've been looking around for a 20" widescreen monitor. Originally I was set on the Viewsonic vx2025wm, but a few more options have opened up for me lately. The Samsung 205bw also looks attractive but I can't find out whether it's true 8-bit or if it uses 6-bit and dithering. The LG L204WT has...
Wow. I picked up the x1800XT for $199. Stuck here with a dead power supply so I don't actually get my system until later. I wish I had waited now :(. This is an amazing deal.
Turn off Smooth Shading in your video options. You will have to completely restart the game (not just relog) for it to work. I've got it too and it's really annoying :(.
Anything made in the past two years. The processor will be doing most of the work in your case, not the videocard. Just make sure whatever you get has two DVI out ports.
