Always a chance of it being a power issue, but it's typically more difficult to troubleshoot unless you have a spare lying around. If no errors are found with your memory, then maybe you should give it a shot.

I know you said Super Pi 8M ran fine, but try running Memtest 86 just in case. Similar thing happened to me with one of my older computers.

True in many ways. The people (most of them anyhow) that download it and other software know full well how to bypass things like that.
Those type of copy protection schemes seem to do more damage to legitimate customers than combat piracy.

Just to update you guys:
I thought I'd give it a shot using a coax connection. I figured that if I didn't notice a difference in sound that I would simply return the new cable and continue using the regular analog. I considered getting expensive "Monster Cables" but settled for a $10 recoton...
He's right, the z680 speakers are fantastic for 5.1. Though they do cost more, you can be confident that you've got one of the best speaker systems available. I highly recommend them.

What type of cable do you use for connecting the speakers to the sound card? I recently got those speakers too, but all they included was the analog 6 channel cables. I'm wondering if I should go buy a digital coax cable for better sound?

With those specifications and the FX5500, you may be able to run it at 640x480 and low quality. I personally feel that those are both poor performing cards even at such a low price.
