4GB crucial ballistix ddr2-800 cannot run 4-4-4-12 at 2.2v?

Tried 2.25v and after 10 minutes the ram is too hot to the touch. Even it could settle down at 2.3v, I am afraid it would be fried sonner or later.

yes, command rate is T2 or 2T, whatever. I did try 2gb in dual channel mode on lot 1 & 3, 4-4-4-12, up to 2.2v, they failed. Haven't tried lot 2 & 4 yet. One thing is, during memtest I noticed that in single chnnel the ram speed (or bandwidth?) is marked as 3200 mb/s, and in dual channel it is...

thanks for the input. and yes, all 4 sticks shows same spd, verified by both everest and cpuz. The problem is, once they are in dual channel mode, they cannot pass memtest at 4-4-4-12 for even 2.2v which is on SPD. I tried 4-4-4-12 on both gigabyte ds3 rev 1.3 and p5k, no luck. are you rams...

Do you have a dump? look at it under %SystemRoot%, and load and debug it with windows debugger.

My E4300 on a 965P-DS3 won't hold an overclock

This board is a joke. Maybe it doesn't like my crucial ballistix ram, but I found other rams cannot hold the oc either. Big mistake to try Gigabyte, dump this garbage and turn back to P5K now.

Did you solve the problem? I am experiencing the same problem. Every time from a cold boot bios would reset to default. current config: E6420 at 400mhz, Crucial Ballistix ddr2 800 at 400mhz, 1:1 dividor, 4, 4, 4, 12 XFX 7600GS . From the beep it seems the mobo doesn't like this RAM.

I would say, 3.2 is your daily life, and 3.2+ is your bragging rights. :)

Looking for a good dvd burner!

I think it is usually burner and disk binding. Different burners may have different flavor over discs. choose the disc carefully.

E6420 @ 3.3 ??

I have the same config as you. But my ds3 even cannot load at 1.39vcore, sometimes it work and accidentally it fails and reset everything back to stock. I mean, if you cannot stay stably, it is not worth the trouble for daily boot and run even you can achieve it one or two times, too annoying.

Upgrading to new PC, is this a big jump?

c2d is the way to go. this is my upgrade path, northwood -> a64 3000 -> c2d recently. c2d is fantastic combined with all ram and bus boost, you cannot go wrong. btw, leave alone with HT, that design is totally a joke, don't argue with me.

I use NEC 3500 (or 35xx) 16x, combined with ridata and verbatim for three years, never failed me. cannot be happier more.

Does northbridge actually affect Video card temp?

overclocked my ds3, the memory is running at 2.0v. As everyone noticed, the NB is very hot, and my 7600gs fanless vid reached 68-70c idling. I wonder what caused the vid so hot? and does NB contribute a lot to the heat? my old agp fanless 9600xt runs at 58c idling only. Any idea? TIA
