this is a very good build. great choice of PSU and case. may want to look at E6300 - i dont know that the 7500 is that much better for the 40$ price difference. you can save that money and get a much faster chip in a few months (probably in february when the i3's come out).

I think a chip is different than a processor. A processor is a subset of chips. I also believe that a core is a subset of processors. therefore, you can have multiple cores in a processor, and multiple processors on a chip. is that correct? to wit: could you have a dual processor...

best mainboard for a64?

I would highly reccommend NOT buying the A8V board, unless you prefer video posting problems, a finicky board, and minimal/nonexistent tech support.

Help me choose a S939 Mobo

I would NOT reccommend the A8v. Asus tech support sucks, and many users have failed to get this to post, even with the bios beyond 1007. Nothing sucks more than spending 400$ and no video to show for it.

Is Enermax 365 watts enough for overcloking Athlon 64?

my eg-365VE rates 12A on the 12V rail. Could this be why my computer refuses to post? The A8V board keeps saying: System failed CPU Test, or No CPU found. could this be the reason?

I am in the exact same boat as you, except i have a 3200+ winchester instead of 3500+ winchester. i think asus just makes a crappy board. i had problems with their k7m back in the day. don't expect any help from their tech support, they could give two craps about you. let me know if anything...
