Just changed hosting companies

Hi, I just changed hosting companies. I have a domain with another company that I changed that dns on to the new host, I am still waiting for it to be picked up my the new site. How long does it usually take.

External hard drive

I have a 120gb passport that I have been using for about 6 mo. My main use is for backups but I do keep music and videos on it also. I have no problems with either and after watching video for quite a while I can't remember it really even being warm to the touch. The thing that sold me though...
