Freaking Comcast has been cheating me. RANT

This tread is about Comcast, not Charter. The source you quoted above talks about Charter only, but saying "the cable operators" implies that all cable companies have stopped allowing user-owned modems. I very recently started using Comcast and am using my own modem.

Do you think college/university degrees are necessary?

Was just going to post this. Degrees are necessary, depending on the degree and field in question. I'm a pharmacy student - good luck being a competent pharmacist without going to school (legal restrictions aside). That being said, there are definitely people who never went to pharmacy school...

Digital River Windows 7 pricing

It will let you do a clean install, but it will say something like it needs a valid key within 30 days or it will stop working. I then reinstalled on top of the install I just did, and apparently it considered that an upgrade because it accepted the key.

Pharmacists have to take CEs (continuing education) each year. Will it be over that new drug? Maybe, maybe not. However, a good pharmacist will keep on top of new drugs. A lot of new drugs are within the same class as existing drugs, so it's not like you have to start from the ground up again -...

Gmail: Removing Multiple Contacts and stopping contacts from automatically adding

In gmail, look on the left hand side. All the way at the top, under mail, it will say contacts. Click on that and delete away. As for stopping them from automatically being added, I'm not sure.

Hmmm. To take blood pressure meds or not to..

Assuming he's been consistently at 165/80 and this is not a one-time reading, then he most certainly needs medication in addition to lifestyle changes. I don't know the OPs medical history, but his goal is most likely to achieve a BP of 140/90 or less, or, if he has diabetes or chronic kidney...

Captivate randomly shuts down

I have a Captivate, and it will seemingly randomly shut down. This always happens when the phone is not in use (not used long enough for screen to shut off). When I hit the button to light up the screen, I find out it has shut down. I've tried setting the screen timeout to 30 minutes to see if...
