Can't update profile

for some reason I can't update my profile, I get error 578. Then I get logged out. Any ideas?

939 Motherboards kind of scarce due to upcoming PCI express replacing AGP?

I personally just made this decsion. I usually upgrade every 1.5-2 years. For now I'm coming from an Athlon XP with a 333Mhz FSB. I went with an Athlon 64 3000+ socket 754 becuase the dual channel memory controller doesn't really make that much of a difference for the A64. My video card...

My new system to be bought end of the month

And if you really want the 3200+ go with the 3200+ Newcastle. It has 512kb cache but it is 200Mhz faster then the 3200+ with 1MB of cache. The 200Mhz will affect your performance much more than the cache because the Athlon64 architecture isn't affect by pipeline stalls like the P4.

what is best amd 64 deal?

As was stated, it is not a waste of money to get a 64bit chip. I have 3200+ Athlon XP. My roommate got a new computer with an Athlon 64 2800+ and it is faster than my computer. It is definitly worth getting the Athlon 64.

Need a vid card

at that price point ATI is the way to go. Look for the best deal you can get on a 9600Pro or 9600XT. You will be happy with that card and it should be able to play games pretty well. Doom 3 will be a stretch, but definitly playable.

wpa woes

I had a similar problem with WEP. I had the "Use 802.11x authentication" box checked and it would drop the connection all the time. I don't know if that would affect WPA, but it might be something similar.

CPU limited versus GPU limited

Video cards are by far faster than current CPU's. However, it really doesn't matter. Just get the best one you can afford. Even if your CPU is holding you back, you can always up the AA/AF and you get more use out of your video card. This shows in most tests. The fastest cards are bottlenecked...

KT600 vs. NF2

No, these are probably retail cards before they switched to the flip chip packaging. These are noticably slower than flip chip 5600 Ultra and hotter too.

A Xmas Tale of R9700 Pro Terror

Even with a P4 2.53, Abit SR7-8X, and Radeon 9700 Pro, I was getting 13000. I upgraded to an Athlon XP 2600+, nForce2, with the Radeon 9700 Pro and I get 15300. On my old rig with an 8500 I would get around 8000 3dmarks. The 9700 Pro is CPU limited. Even with a 2600+ it is still somewhat CPU...
