I shouldn't have said hard to find. They are available and in-stock at most e-tailers but, there isn't a whole lot of variety. As most of the market has shifted to 1920x1080 for similar screen sizes. (21.5")
Edit: Thanks to everyone for the quick feedback!
Im currently running a 22" Acer X223BW that is on its way out. Instead of replacing it with another hard to find 22"(1680x1050) LCD, I want to upgrade to a 24" 1920x1080 monitor. All of the more demanding games (Crysis, Bad Company 2, Metro 2033) run fine in my current configuration. How...
Ive done some searching but I cant find any good benchmarks or comments on Window 7s (RTM) gaming performance. I ran the RC back when it first came out; had no issues except for a slight performance hit in some games. More than likely the result of immature video card drivers. What are your...
Just throwing a few things into the discussion. Most PCs from the large manufacturers such as HP, Dell, Acer come with at least 4GB of RAM and 64 bit Vista (due to low DDR2 prices). There is an argument to be made for i7 machines that only 3GB of RAM is a bottleneck.
You may need 64bit Vista to see all 4GBs, I know 32bit will see up to 4GB but your mileage may vary (IE: only seeing up to 3.3 or 3.5GB).
Any type of memory should work just fine, there isn't really a need for "performance" memory in laptops. Just buy memory from a reputable company/vendor...
I have a great opportunity to upgrade both my RAM and OS cheaply.
See my signature for system specs, im running Vista Home Premium 32bit, and Im contemplating getting Vista Ultimate (64 bit) from the Ultimate Steal program and using the full install trick. Ill also be adding 4GB of RAM (for...
Thanks for the quick replies and advice, I only did about an hour of prime95 tests with no errors. Which is a far cry from 24 (the only reason ive been worried) The machine has been stable as a rock, I haven't had a single blue screen.
A minor overclock on the G0 stepping version. I have had this machine running since last November with no issues, but Im contemplating reinstalling windows. I have an abit IP-35 pro, have not changed any voltages just upped the FSB (9x333). I did this after installing windows. Are there any...
CPU temps are good, Ive used the popular fan fix technique with these 4850s. Although I didnt know I had to enable Overdrive to get that fan speed fix to work. Ill try it again. The first parts of the game ive gone through without a single crash on standard 8.6 Catalyst.
Update: Ran...
Update: I have tried using the standard 8.6 Drivers from Visiontek's website. Only the final part of the game is freezing and crashing like this. Any help would be appreciated.
I have tried 8.6 Hotfix and 8.7 Beta drives, im on the aircraft carrier at the end of the game and I keep crashing every few minutes. I have the latest hotfix applied to the game. Any suggestions? Would it be a good idea to go back to standard 8.6?
Thanks.
See my signature for my system specs. Right now im playing Crysis extremely well on high at 1280x1024. Im looking at upgrading a 22" Acer monitor and I was curious how much of a performance hit will I take? Im still within the return policy at BestBuy and Im thinking about moving up.
I manually set the fan speed using a CCC profile, and at 40% I never go over 70 at load. I may push this card more but not until some new catalysts come out.
I have the fan speed set as normal, are these speeds cooking my GPU? Ive heard alot of rumors about fan speeds on these cards not being as high as they need to. 87 was the max temp I got through running Crysis's GPU benchmark.
